At the annual Women’s Conference of the HEGGE Christian Educational Center, the 2025 focus is on hope, explored through perspectives from society, theology, and the church. Eva-Maria McCormack will open the conference with a lecture in which she discusses hope as a very worldly, action-oriented force for shaping a sustainable and socially just way of living together.

Misinformation about the climate crisis appears everywhere — at school, online and in everyday life. This workshop equips students in grades 5–13 with the tools to spot common tricks, fallacies and fake news, and to assess them with confidence. In this climate communication workshop at the Wegener Center for Climate and Global Change, Eva-Maria McCormack and Dr. Frederik Metje explore why socially inclusive communication holds the key to greater success in climate action. They show how to overcome fear-based narratives in climate discourse and highlight the power of genuine listening in winning more people over for the climate cause. Together with participants, they will practice strategies to reach those who have so far remained on the margins of the climate conversation.

Public discource on climate is increasingly polarized, politics and the media have shifted their attention elsewhere — while the 1.5°C threshold is about to be crossed. How can we respond? As part of the Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) 2025, this workshop explores how misinformation and simplified narratives also circulate within the climate movement itself – and asks whether a “climate populism” might be needed to reach people outside the usual bubble. Together, Frederik Metje and Fine Hornbostel will invite the participants to question their own communication habits and discuss how climate communication can reach the masses.

The Summer Academy Europe 2025 brings together students, educators, and young adults (up to age 35) for an inspiring, interdisciplinary exchange on these critical challenges.

In her talk, our founder Eva-Maria McCormack speaks about the power of hope in uncertain times. She explores why hope is political, how we can nurture it despite crises – and why we have every reason to remain hopeful. The talk will be followed by an open conversation.

As part of the openTransfer Camp Climate, Frederik Metje from Talking Hope invites participants to an interactive workshop. Together, we will analyze examples of unsuccessful climate communication, identify their weaknesses, and develop approaches for impactful and equitable messaging.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, our founder Eva-Maria McCormack will speak at a panel discussion hosted by KAB Fulda. Together with Bishop Michael Gerber and Nicolai Raab from Sehnseits e.V., she will discuss the importance of hope in times of social upheaval.
