Climate conversations still too often leave out those who are most affected. People facing social and economic disadvantage are underrepresented in climate spaces and in debates about our collective future — even in the Global North. But without social inclusion, there can be no truly successful green transformation.

At the K3 Climate Communication Congress, we present our Talking Hope Framework for Socially Inclusive Climate Communication, developed by our interdisciplinary team of experts from the areas of communication, social work, education and psychology. It is built to support participatory, peer-led mobilization among communities that are often overlooked — including people from non-academic, rural, East German, and migrant backgrounds.

In our workshop, we share this methodology and explore, through co-creative role play, how to talk about climate in ways that resonate with people who often say they have far more urgent concerns.
